News: Spring 2009
We've been very busy the past few months working in the
studio on songs for our upcoming release that is due out this
fall. I consider myself lucky to have the opportunity to
record with some of my favorite musicians including a stellar
horn section led by Stuart Bogie (Antibalas, TV on the
Radio), including Aaron Johnson (Dap Kings, Antibalas) and
Kelly Pratt (Beirut, Arcade Fire). Our newest recordings also
feature the sweet vocals of Maria Neckam and pedal steel by
the great Gerald Menke. Kenji Bunch (Citigrass) shows up for
some earthy fiddle-style viola work on "Baby Don't Bitch"
which also features the soulful vocal stylings of Christina
Kornegay.
2008 was an exciting year for the Darrin James Band. We
played more shows than ever before, and we recieved our first
TV placement on Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch. They
licensed "Crazy World" from Thrones of Gold, which
plays in the background throughout the climax and closing
credits as the crew of an Alaskan fishing boat goes
increasingly mad with cabin fever.

We’re currently working on a new album and playing
shows both locally around New York City and on the road. Our
midwest tour in '08 resulted in some great recordings
including a radio performance on 88.1 FM in St. Louis. Check
our media
page for free downloads of live performances.
